Happy New Year! I’m Lara, and this is my first post on what I hope will be an amazing, fun, and inspiring website!
If you’d like to know more about me, please click on the “About” link above.
Let’s jump right in!!
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE?
Forget talk about “winning” at life. This is not a race or competition against anyone, not even yourself. You have already won life – you are here. Let’s take a minute to really think about what this means: You have been given a body, a mind, the ability to feel love and emotions, and the will to create endlessly. Whether you realize it or not, you have created who you are now. Every thought that has lead to a choice, action or inaction, has gotten you to where you are today. Do you like who you are? Are you happy with yourself and your life? Would you want to be best friends with you? Work for or with you? This isn’t about loving yourself – you are divinely loved, deserving of love, and have the ability to love yourself in a kind and unselfish way – this is about having the incredible gifts of life mentioned earlier and doing wonderful, creative, and meaningful things with it.
This website is all about being honest with yourself, and developing the skills to be who and what you truly want to be. Your life is up to you, no matter what your current situation is, what your background, culture or education is, or even what your physical or mental abilities are. No one is responsible for our lives but us. If you’re not happy with it, change it! Even those incarcerated have the power to change their experience of their lives. We live with our thoughts and inner experiences of the outer world 24/7. How we choose to think about things creates our experience. Nelson Mandela said (after sitting in a prison cell for 27 years) that the wardens could put four walls around his body but not his mind. His imagination and heart were free!
I hope that this 2020 year brings you a clear vision of who you are and what you want to be. You can then start doing what needs to be done. Don’t let the fear of being unable to do what you want to do, stop you from doing it. As long as what you want to, brings no intentional harm to others – go for it! Recognize the fear and decide to find a mentor, books, websites, classes (whatever you need) and start DOING.
Realize also, that doing doesn’t necessarily mean filling your life with frantic activities (you could end up feeling like a hamster in a wheel) – it could be simply scaling back on doing too much, refocusing on priorities and giving yourself breathing space.
My posts will draw upon my studies; decades of experience having a varied and colorful life; dealing with unusual and challenging family; international travel/work/living; voracious reading; research, and links to other resources (because no person knows everything!)…And hopefully, my posts will be entertaining too!
If you would like to receive a new post once a week (instead of trying to find the website again when you want to read more or find the great links!), just click on this “Subscribe” link or the one at the top of the page…
It is my sincere wish that this website and blog help you rock your life! May your year be full of love, laughter, useful learning, happy times, and wonderful, successful growth.
Aloha,
Lara
